How to Choose a Dental Clinic in Turkey: 10 Checks Before You Book

Choosing a dental clinic abroad is mostly about one thing: finding a team that will recommend the treatment you actually need and do it carefully. Price differences between clinics are often smaller than the differences in treatment philosophy. These ten checks help you compare clinics in Istanbul, Antalya, İzmir or elsewhere in Turkey.

The checklist

  1. Named dentists. Who will treat you? What are their qualifications and specialties (prosthodontist, oral surgeon, periodontist, endodontist)?
  2. Proper diagnosis. A treatment plan based on X-rays or a CT scan and an examination, not just photos of your smile.
  3. A conservative plan. Does the clinic offer options (whitening, bonding, veneers, crowns) and explain why it recommends each? Be cautious if every tooth is planned for a crown.
  4. Written, itemised quote. Per tooth and per procedure, with materials named.
  5. Materials and lab. Implant brand, crown and veneer materials, and whether the lab is in-house or external.
  6. Realistic timeline. Implants need healing time; veneers and crowns need lab time and try-ins.
  7. Hygiene and facility. Ask about sterilisation; look at recent photos or a virtual tour.
  8. Official status. Licensed clinic and, for international patients, a Ministry of Health health-tourism authorisation.
  9. Guarantee and aftercare. What does it cover, for how long, and how does it work if you live abroad?
  10. Independent reviews. Look for detailed reviews written months after treatment, not only on the clinic’s own site.

Red flags

  • A full set of crowns proposed for healthy teeth
  • No X-rays before a treatment plan is made
  • Very short timelines for extensive work
  • Pressure to decide quickly or pay large deposits
  • Reluctance to name the dentist or the materials

What to bring home

  • Copies of all X-rays and scans
  • A list of treatments per tooth and materials used
  • Implant brand, model and size (an implant passport)
  • The written guarantee and the clinic’s contact details

Share these with your dentist at home and keep regular check-ups.

Frequently asked questions

Should I get quotes from several clinics?

Yes. Send the same X-rays and photos to at least three and compare their plans as well as prices.

Is the cheapest clinic a bad idea?

Not necessarily, but understand why it is cheaper: materials, lab, time per patient or experience.

Can my dentist at home help?

Yes. A pre-trip check and X-rays give you an independent baseline.
