Antalya Old Town (Kaleiçi) Boutique Hotels and Where Else to Stay in Antalya

Kaleiçi, Antalya’s walled old town, is a maze of Ottoman houses, Roman gates and cobbled lanes running down to an ancient harbour. Many of its old mansions are now small hotels with courtyards, citrus trees and plunge pools. Staying here gives you a very different Antalya from the big all-inclusive resorts on the beaches either side of the city. This guide compares the main areas and lists hotels in each.

Kaleiçi: the old town

Inside the old walls (mostly in the Kılınçarslan and Barbaros neighbourhoods) you can walk to Hadrian’s Gate, the Yivli Minaret, the old harbour with its boat trips, and dozens of restaurants and bars. Hotels are small, often in restored houses with 10–20 rooms. Expect steps, narrow streets where taxis can’t always reach the door, and some evening noise near the harbour bars.

Lara: the eastern beaches and big resorts

East of the city, Lara and Kundu have a long sandy beach lined with large resort hotels, many all-inclusive and some built in fantasy styles. It is close to the airport (around 15–20 minutes) and suits families who want a pool-and-beach holiday. Güzeloba is the residential area just inland.

Konyaaltı: the western beach

West of the centre, Konyaaltı has a long pebble beach backed by a seafront park, with mountain views across the bay. It is closer to the city than Lara and has a mix of mid-size hotels and apartments, plus the Antalya Aquarium nearby.

Practical tips

  • The airport is 20–30 minutes from Kaleiçi; ask your hotel where taxis can drop you, as some lanes are pedestrian.
  • The tram runs along the main avenues, connecting the old town with Konyaaltı’s museum area and towards Lara.
  • Summer (June–September) is very hot; spring and autumn are better for sightseeing.
  • Day trips: Düden and Kurşunlu waterfalls, the ancient sites of Perge and Aspendos, and Termessos in the mountains.

Antalya for medical trips

Antalya also has a growing number of dental and aesthetic clinics, many in Muratpaşa. A quiet hotel in Konyaaltı or the newer parts of Muratpaşa can be more practical during recovery than the old town’s steep lanes. Browse clinics in our clinic directory.
