Breast Augmentation in Istanbul: Implants, Fat Transfer, Recovery and Cost

Breast augmentation is among the most common cosmetic operations worldwide and in Istanbul. Most procedures use silicone implants, while some use your own fat. The decisions you make about implant type, size and placement, and the surgeon you choose, shape both your result and how it ages over the years.

Implant choices

  • Material: most implants today are cohesive silicone gel; saline implants are less common.
  • Shape: round or anatomical (“teardrop”).
  • Surface: smooth or textured. Certain macro-textured implants have been linked to a rare lymphoma (BIA-ALCL); ask which surface is used and why.
  • Brand: ask for the manufacturer and keep the implant card with serial numbers.

Placement and incision

  • Under the muscle (submuscular or dual-plane): often more natural in slim patients, slightly longer recovery.
  • Over the muscle (subglandular): quicker recovery, may show edges in thin patients.
  • Incisions: most commonly in the fold under the breast; around the areola or in the armpit in some cases.

Fat transfer

Fat is taken by liposuction and injected into the breasts. It gives a modest, natural increase (often about one cup size), with no implant, but some fat is reabsorbed and more than one session may be needed.

Recovery

TimeWhat to expect
First daysTightness and soreness, surgical bra, limited arm movement
About 1 weekCheck-up; many patients fly home after 6–8 days if cleared
2–4 weeksReturn to desk work; no lifting or gym
6 weeksMost activities resume; implants settle over months

Typical costs in Istanbul

Often quoted at about €3,000–€5,500 including hospital, implants and a short hotel stay, depending on surgeon, implant brand and hospital. Combined lift and augmentation costs more.

Long-term considerations

Implants are not lifetime devices; many women eventually have them replaced or removed. Possible complications include capsular contracture (hardening), rupture, rippling and changes in sensation. Keep your implant documentation and have regular checks.

Questions to ask

  1. Who is my surgeon, and how many augmentations do they perform?
  2. Which implant brand, surface and size, and why?
  3. Where will the implant be placed?
  4. Which hospital, and what is the follow-up plan?

Frequently asked questions

Can I breastfeed after augmentation?

Many women can, though some incisions and techniques may affect it. Discuss with your surgeon.

How do I choose the size?

Measurements of your chest and tissue guide what fits; trying sizers helps.

Is a lift needed?

If the breasts have significant sagging, implants alone may not give the desired result. See mommy makeover.
