A “mommy makeover” is a package of operations aimed at changes after pregnancy and breastfeeding: loose abdominal skin and separated muscles, changes in breast shape and volume, and stubborn fat. It is popular in Istanbul because combining several operations abroad can be much cheaper than at home. But combined surgery is also more demanding on the body, so planning matters more than the package price.
What it usually includes
- Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck): removes excess skin and repairs separated abdominal muscles (diastasis recti).
- Breast surgery: lift (mastopexy), augmentation, or both; sometimes reduction.
- Liposuction: to refine waist, flanks or other areas.
When is the right time?
- When you have finished having children; another pregnancy can undo the results.
- At least 6–12 months after giving birth and after you have stopped breastfeeding.
- At a stable weight close to your goal.
Combine or stage?
Combining a tummy tuck with breast surgery is common, but adding extensive liposuction or other procedures lengthens surgery and increases risks such as blood clots, blood loss and wound problems. Many surgeons limit the total operating time or split the operations into two stages. Ask your surgeon how long the operation will take and why they recommend combining.
Recovery
| Time | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Hospital stay | Often 1–2 nights |
| First 2 weeks | Walking slightly bent after a tummy tuck, drains possible, compression garments, help needed at home |
| Flying home | Commonly after 10–14 days with blood clot prevention measures, if cleared by the surgeon |
| 4–6 weeks | No lifting heavy objects, including small children |
| 3–6 months | Swelling settles; scars continue to fade for a year or more |
Arrange help with childcare at home; lifting toddlers is usually not allowed for several weeks.
Typical costs in Istanbul
Packages often range from about €5,000 to €10,000 depending on which procedures are included, the surgeon, the hospital and implant choices.

Frequently asked questions
Will the tummy tuck scar be visible?
It is usually placed low so underwear or swimwear covers it, and fades over time.
Can I have another baby after?
Yes, but pregnancy can stretch the muscles and skin again. Most surgeons advise waiting until your family is complete.
Is a mommy makeover safe abroad?
With a qualified plastic surgeon, a proper hospital and adequate recovery time, risks are reduced. Avoid rushing home.
