Veneers are thin coverings bonded to the front of teeth to change their colour, shape or alignment. Done well, they look natural and last many years. In Turkey they are widely offered in packages for a fraction of UK prices, but quality and treatment philosophy vary a lot between clinics. This guide explains the types and what to watch for.

How much tooth is removed?
Most ceramic veneers need a thin layer of enamel removed, often around 0.3–0.7 mm, so the veneer doesn’t look bulky. “No-prep” or minimal-prep veneers are possible in some cases. Removing much more than this, or cutting teeth down for crowns when veneers would do, is the source of most regret. Ask how much will be removed and why.
The process (about 5–7 days)
- Examination, X-rays and discussion of shade and shape; ideally a digital smile design or mock-up.
- Preparation of teeth and impressions or digital scans; temporary veneers fitted.
- Lab fabrication over several days.
- Try-in, adjustments and permanent bonding.
Pros and cons
- Pros: natural look, stain resistant, corrects shape and small gaps quickly.
- Cons: irreversible preparation, risk of chipping, need replacing eventually, not suitable for heavy grinders without protection.
Alternatives
