Full-mouth rehabilitation means restoring most or all of the teeth in both jaws, usually because of extensive decay, wear, missing teeth, gum disease or a collapsed bite. It may combine fillings, root canals, crowns, bridges, implants and gum treatment. Because it is complex and expensive, it is the dental treatment where careful planning and an experienced team matter most.
Who needs it?
- People with many broken, worn or missing teeth
- Severe tooth wear from grinding or acid erosion
- Long-standing gum disease affecting many teeth
- Patients whose bite has changed and causes jaw pain or difficulty chewing
A sensible sequence
- Full assessment: X-rays and CT scan, gum measurements, bite analysis, photos and models.
- Stabilise: treat infection, decay and gum disease; extract teeth that cannot be saved; root canal treatment where needed.
- Plan the bite: decide the correct jaw relationship and tooth height, often tested with temporary restorations.
- Implants: placed where needed, with healing time.
- Final restorations: crowns, bridges and implant crowns made and fitted.
This usually takes at least two trips several months apart. Plans that do everything in one week deserve close questions.
Who should be involved
Complex cases benefit from a team: a prosthodontist (restorative specialist) to plan, an oral surgeon or periodontist for implants and gums, and an endodontist for root canals. Ask which specialists are involved.
Cost in Turkey
Costs vary enormously, from several thousand to well over ten thousand euros, depending on the number of implants, crowns and preparatory treatments. Ask for an itemised quote per tooth and per procedure. See implant costs and zirconia crowns.
Alternatives
For people with most teeth missing, full-arch solutions such as All-on-4 may be simpler. Partial dentures remain a lower-cost option.
Questions to ask
- Which teeth can be saved, and which will be replaced?
- Who plans the case, and what specialists are involved?
- How will you test the new bite before final work?
- How many trips and how long each?
- What happens if a restoration fails after I go home?
